CETA

L’Accord économique et commercial global (AECG ou CETA en anglais) a été conclu en 2014 entre le Canada et l’Union européenne. Il est entré en application provisoire en septembre 2017.

Le traité touche la plupart des domaines des accords commerciaux de nouvelle génération, dont la propriété intellectuelle, les marchés publics, la coopération règlementaire, les services publics et l’élimination des droits de douane.

Il comprend aussi un chapitre sur l’investissement avec un mécanisme révisé de règlement des différends investisseur-Etat, nommé système juridictionnel des investissements. Cependant, pour beaucoup de critiques au Canada et en Europe, ce nouveau système n’est juste que de la poudre aux yeux, étant donné qu’il ne s’attaque pas au problème central de l’arbitrage investisseur-Etat qui permet à des multinationales d’attaquer un Etat devant des tribunaux arbitraux, si elles estiment que des nouvelles lois ou un changement de politique représentent un frein à leurs profits.
